Shane was fortunate to perform with and be mentored by the legendary Jazz guitarist Tal Farlow while he researched a book about Tal's style and life.

Shane graduated with a first from Leeds College of Music and has performed and taught guitar for over 30 years in many settings.

As a tutor for Surrey Education, he has taught on numerous Jazz courses - as well as out reach jazz programs in schools and colleges including for Benslow Music Trust. He has had a long association with The Surrey Youth Jazz Orchestra both as an early member and tutor.

Shane has performed with many guitarists including : Howard Alden, Tal Farlow, Jim Mullen, Dominic Ashworth, Nigel Price, Ciyo Brown and Simon James ( who founded the Grammy nominated band Acoustic Alchemy). He has recorded and appeared with the likes of Dave O' Higgins, Dick Pearce, Jason Rebello, Dave Markee, Frank Holder, Peter King, Stan Sulzmann and Rainer Brüninghaus from the Jan Garbarek Band.

Shane has performed at Ronnie Scott's the 606 Club, Watermill Jazz Club and many festivals and theatres throughout the country.
